Wallet becomes Walt: a letter from Andrew Rogozov
Five years ago, we launched a simple wallet bot that made it easy to buy Toncoin and Bitcoin for Telegram users. Since then, it has evolved into a full-scale crypto platform, giving millions of users access to hundreds of assets, multi-chain trading, earn products, tokenized stocks and gold, and much more.
Our native integration with Telegram has made us the go-to app for everyday crypto for millions of people around the world. Today marks the next stage of that journey.
The financial layer in Telegram is evolving. As Telegram is launching a Gram wallet, a simple way to buy and use Gram within Telegram, available immediately to 1 billion users, we’re taking the next step in the users’ crypto journey with a full-scale crypto app for those who want more from crypto. And we’re doing it under a new name: Walt.
Gram Wallet and Walt serve different but complementary roles, giving Telegram users a complete crypto experience – from simple everyday use to more advanced crypto activity.

- Telegram’s Gram wallet is the entry point for 1 billion users: an easy way to buy Gram as the core ecosystem token, send Gifts, buy Stars, transfer funds to friends and transact within thousands of Telegram apps and services.
- Walt is the full-scale crypto platform for users who want to go further – with trading, investing, multi-chain assets and cross-chain transfers. It also provides the infrastructure that lets Telegram users top up their Gram wallet via Walt.

Why Walt?
The product got bigger, the name got shorter. Walt keeps what we started as, a wallet, while making room for what we’ve become: one app for paying, investing, earning, and trading.
The rebrand changes our name, logo, and social handles. The wallet in Telegram's settings is meant to be the simplest way to hold and send crypto. That's now Gram wallet's job, so it takes Wallet's place there. Walt, with trading, investing and earn products, is available via @walt. Everything else stays the same. Your funds, your account, your settings, and the way you access your wallet. There is nothing to migrate and nothing you need to do.
Our official accounts are now @walt, @walt_news, @walt_support. We will never message you first or ask for your sensitive information.
Our principles stay the same too:
Simple. Two taps to anything. We take complex crypto products and make them simple to use – no jargon, no unnecessary complexity, and nothing you need to be an expert to understand.

What's next

Alongside the rebrand, we’re also unveiling what’s next for Walt. Our upcoming launches will expand how people can use and interact with crypto every day. Crypto cards will bring crypto spending into the real world, giving users another simple way to use their assets. At the same time, AI-powered trading will make our trading products more accessible through conversational interfaces, helping users analyze markets, assess portfolio risk, discover opportunities, and execute perpetuals.
